Papamarkou Typeface is inspired by the architecture of Papamarkou Street, located in the heart of Thessaloniki, Greece. All the pedestrian street buildings were designed by the French architect Ernest Hébrard back in 1917. The goal was to create a neighborhood of small businesses. That is why each building consists of two small spaces. The one on ground level, worked as a room for selling goods or services, while that at the first floor was destined for a workshop or a place to rest. Papamarkou Typeface draws inspiration from the form of the buildings, especially from the characteristic archy windows of the upper part of it.
